Stephen Chidwick shares his top tip for poker players. Read on to find out
Stephen Chidwick, born on May 5, 1989, is a 23-year old poker pro from Deals, England. Going by the name Stevie444, he has pocketed $3 million from playing online poker and another $1 million from live tournaments. He initially played freerolls on the internet when he was just 16 years old. When he reached 18, he was earning way more than he could from working regular jobs so he dropped out of school and pursued being a professional poker player. His track record is one of the best in the industry, winning more than a hundred seats at the Main Event of WSOP. Among his prominent finishes in live tournaments include landing in the final table at the LAPC Main Event, SCOP $10,000 Pot Limit Hold'Em, WSOP 1500 Horse Event and WSOP $50,000 Players Championship. With his 7 years of playing experience, the guy comes across as someone quite polite and well-mannered.
When he was 16, he convinced his dad to set up a Ladbrokes account for him. Since they were fans of the NFL, he thought making some sports bets made things more exciting. His first deposit was £5. It was then that he was introduced to online poker. Initially, he was just playing for free but when he realized he could play for real money, he decided to take a risk. Because he was only working as a paperboy, he used what little money he earned to know more about the game. After a few years, his freeroll account reached more than $3 million. This was how he wanted to make a living and was very passionate about it. After conquering the online scene, Stephen Chidwick qualified for his first live tournament by winning a Player's Choice seat while he was playing on Full Tilt. He decided to join the EPT €5,000 main event held in Prague. After a month, he won another slot for the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure.
For those who are only starting out, Stephen Chidwick shares his top tip: don't be afraid to trust your instincts just because you are scared to look stupid.
